Concrete Mix Pumps and Boom Pumps- What You Need to Know

Concrete is undoubtedly one of the most common materials used in construction. It is made up of aggregates mixed with concrete paste or cement. The quality and strength of concrete depend on two primary things; the materials and the making process. If you want to get high-quality, it should have the exact cement and water ratio.

Cement acts as a hydraulic mixer, meaning it hardens when it reacts with water. The smallest cement paste portions range in the micrometers, while the big ones, aggregate or concrete paste range to several centimeters. This brings us to concrete mix pumps or boom pumps for sale. These are machines use to transport liquid concrete via pumping.

There are two main types of concrete pumps. The first is the trailer-mounted boom pump. This machinery is attached to a truck, which uses a remote-controlled boom or robotic arm to place concrete with the ultimate precision.

Most engineers opt for boom pumps in bigger construction projects as they happen to be more efficient in pumping at huge volumes. This saves both effort and time and is considered as the ultimate substitute to other bigger truck-mounted boom pumps.

Truck-mounted concrete pumps, also known as trailer-mounted pumps or line pumps, are the second type. These are huge machines that need steel-concrete or specialized rubber to hold the hoses that are manually linked to the machinery’s outlet. The hoses are joined together and go to wherever the concrete needs to be poured. Also, there are custom-made line pumps that can be utilized for lower volumes like swimming pools, ground slabs, single-family sites and sidewalks.

Also, you will come across rail mounted and skid mounted concrete mix pumps. They are also custom made machines used for specialized construction sites like mining activities and building bridges or tunnels.

Piston-type concrete mix pump are another type that can deal with various atmospheres and long projects. They are very durable and suited to push varying types of heterogenous concrete mix cylinders or cement with aggregate.

A Few Things to Consider

When looking to buy or lease a concrete mixer pump, you’ll want to consider a few things:

1. Equipment Quality

You will want to ensure that the linings to the machinery are resistant to abrasion. The amount of abrasion is usually gauged by DIN 53516. The lower the value, the better the durability and quality. The gear’s lifespan can also be measured with the TH-volume of the materials conveyed. Get more details here.

2.Check the Gear or Booms’ Cover

These ideally need to be ozone and abrasion-resistant. Synthetic rubber is the best example of the covers’ material.

Keep in mind that the reinforcement depends on the hose’s inner layer diameter and the pressure required. The conventional working pressure should be at least 1232 PSI or 85 bar. Evaluate the pressure as well as burst meter. The latter’s pressure should be 2900 PSI or 200 bar.

3. Check If Some Parts are Missing

Boom covers and jual concrete pump should have specialized screws to support the hose as well as the machinery’s base system. This helps avoid problems during construction.
